Film and TV finance teams do not need another generic feature scorecard. They need a dependable path from a project budget and approved invoice to a paid vendor—without losing production-accounting detail or payroll boundaries. EvedPay and CASHétPay address that path differently. Eved brings industry-specific software, AI, a reusable vendor network and a managed payment service. Its AI supports invoice and receipt scanning, automated coding with review controls, connected invoice, receipt and payment data, and questions to Ellie about project spend. CASHétPay is a production-oriented payment workflow centered on receiving an approved AP batch and coordinating its release.

Short answer: Choose EvedPay when you want the client to control approvals and funding while Eved handles vendor onboarding, payment distribution and payment follow-up. Investigate CASHétPay when your production-accounting process is already producing a posted AP batch and you want to evaluate its approval and payment-release service. EvedAP, production accounting and payroll remain complementary parts of the operating model—not interchangeable products.

What Eved’s AI does today

Eved uses AI to capture and code invoices and card receipts, flag suspected fraud, send fraud text notifications and surface important spend information. Ellie lets your team ask questions about that data. The benefit is practical: less repeated entry, clearer project information and exceptions brought to the team’s attention.

These capabilities sit alongside approval and review controls. AI can help identify suspicious activity; it is not a guarantee that every risk will be found or that every flagged transaction is fraudulent. Eved is continuing to expand what Ellie can do in these workflows.

The operating model matters more than the button

Consider a real production run. The production gets an invoice into Eved, the vendor completes one-time onboarding, and the production approves the invoice against its project budget. Eved then rolls approved amounts into a funding statement at the cadence the client chooses—daily, weekly or another configured run. The client pays Eved; Eved distributes the funded amounts to vendors and takes the lead on payment-status questions, delivery follow-up and investigations.

That is the distinction behind EvedPay: keep control of approvals; hand off the work of paying. Funding is not the same as final bank settlement, and payment timing still depends on the selected method, cutoffs and destination. But the production team has one managed service responsible for the funded vendor-payment workflow rather than another round of disconnected handoffs.

Eved maintains the vendor relationship in Eved while the client keeps Eved as the payee in its vendor master. Individual vendors do not need a separate ERP vendor-master record for every Eved-managed payee. At the same time, the production does not lose line-item visibility: invoice and payment detail, along with the production’s accounting and project codes, can be mapped back to the required ERP format.

What CASHétPay is—and is not—in this comparison

CASHétPay’s official materials describe a secure remote approval and payment process that receives a posted AP batch. Entertainment Partners documents virtual cards and Exactuals-supported ACH and check payments for non-card transactions, with SmartAccounting integration and configurable approval thresholds. That makes CASHétPay a direct service comparison for EvedPay’s downstream payment work—not proof that CASHét lacks software or that it cannot support other production workflows.

CASHét also publishes separate card and PCEDA products with production spend controls, receipt capture, transaction reporting and digital P-card-envelope approvals. Those products matter when the need is department cards or field spend, but they should not be collapsed into CASHétPay’s AP payment-release service. EvedPay Card is likewise a separate control path for on-set purchases and per diem-related spend, not payroll. Basic controls and receipt capture do not make card workflows identical: evaluate Eved’s AI receipt coding and matching to project budgets, industry-connected data, and the configured production process rather than assuming equivalence.

Where Eved fits alongside your stack

Eved is designed to complement production accounting and payroll, not replace the ledger or crew-pay provider. EvedAP supports budgets, optional purchase orders, invoice capture, detail extraction and configurable approval routing before payment. EvedPay handles the funded vendor-payment layer. Eved’s film and TV workflow is built around many projects, short contracts, one-time individuals and changing vendor lists. Its network makes an onboarded vendor reusable instead of forcing every production to restart setup.

For payroll, union obligations and crew withholding, keep the payroll provider in the workflow. For production accounting and close, map Eved’s detail into the system your team already uses. Approval before pay, without card-by-card reconciliation, is the point—not a claim that accounting work disappears.

How to choose

Start with the handoff you want to improve. If you already produce a posted AP batch in SmartAccounting and primarily need payment release, evaluate CASHétPay’s configured service and its ownership of exceptions. If you need a reusable vendor network, consolidated client funding, applicable tax-form and bank-data handling, and one service responsible for funded payment follow-up, evaluate EvedPay. If your priority is budget and invoice control upstream, add EvedAP; if it is crew payroll, retain the payroll specialist.

Ask each provider to demonstrate one production from invoice intake through approval, funding, payment status, accounting export and wrap. Confirm payment methods, cutoffs, destination eligibility, tax responsibilities, integration scope and who answers the vendor when a payment needs investigation.

Frequently asked questions

What can Eved’s AI and Ellie do today?

Eved’s AI captures and codes invoices and card receipts, flags suspected fraud, sends fraud text notifications and surfaces important spend data. Ellie answers questions about the connected information. These are current capabilities; broader agent actions are a developing direction. Approval and review controls remain in place, and a fraud flag is not proof of fraud or a guarantee that every risk is detected.

Does Eved require EvedAP or purchase orders?

No. Eved supports the upstream budget, invoice and approval workflow, but clients do not have to use purchase orders or EvedAP upstream to use EvedPay. The production still gets invoices into the system, approves them and funds the statement; the configured payment workflow determines what happens next.

Does Eved promise same-day payment everywhere?

No unconditional promise is appropriate. Same-day payment options are available, but eligibility and timing depend on the payment method, funding, cutoffs and destination. Ask for the corridor-specific answer for your payees.

Does Eved replace payroll or production accounting?

No. Eved complements those systems. Payroll providers retain payroll, withholding and union responsibilities, while the production’s accounting system remains the ledger and receives mapped invoice and payment detail.
